All-member programme update for December

Share

This is our all-member programme update for all Scouts sections for December 2024.

Keeping your programme safe

With the term almost coming to an end, you might already be looking ahead to the next one. When programme planning, risk assessments should be included in the process, as it'll help you to keep them up-to-date and identify how you’ll safely manage the activities you provide. Full guidance and support for risk assessments is available online, with examples for different activities, templates and videos.

Take part in our UK Youth Forum

The UK Youth Forum is all about putting young people in the driver's seat! We want to bring young people together from across the UK to hear their voices, exchange ideas, and explore solutions that’ll shape the future of the movement. You'll be able to join in with the UK Youth Forum by taking part in the self-led activities with your Section which are due to be launched in January 2025. Check out our UK Youth Forum page to learn more.

Your experience of delivering the programme

Let us know your experience of delivering Squirrels so we can improve the programme. We’d love to hear from as many Squirrel leaders as possible about your experiences of delivering the programme. We’re trying to understand if child led and play are central to Squirrels' experiences of the programme, as that’s a really crucial part of child development. We need to know how best to support leaders with delivering that aspect of the programme and we’d love volunteers to help us shape resources and support to help that. Please complete the programme support survey to let us know how that is going and help us identify if there is any additional support we should be offering.

Money Skills Badge is coming to Scouts

With over 150,000 badges awarded to Cubs and Beavers, we’re excited to start developing the Money Skills programme for Scouts and Explorers. We’d love to hear your thoughts on the development of these badges. We’ll be using your feedback from this survey to help us create a Money Skills programme specific to what volunteers, young people, and the wider sector feel is relevant. With recent governmental changes and the cost of living crisis still impacting thousands of families across the UK, it’s never been more important that we support young people to learn financial literacy. Let us know what you think by filling out the Money Skills survey by 20 December.
