Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Find out about EDI at Scouts and access our volunteer resources

At Scouts, our main priority is to make sure that everyone, be that our young people or our volunteers, feel welcome and comfortable to take part.

To read more about what Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) means to us, please take a look at our vision for equity, diversity and inclusion and check out our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Misogyny and online safety

The TV series Adolescence has reignited conversations around misogyny, online safety and young people. We know that Scouts volunteers want to support young people to the best of their ability, and this can be challenging with the normalised use of social media and online platforms. The following resources can be used to support volunteers, parents and carers if needed.

Please note, this is not part of the Scouts programme, and we're not asking volunteers to talk about these issues if they're not relevant or appropriate to the young people in their Section or Group. The resources we've shared are from other organisations, not written by Scouts, so may be updated by them from time to time and may need adapting for use.

Share your success stories

Championing the efforts and inclusive practices of our volunteers and young people is incredibly important to us.

If you’ve had an experience in Scouts that made you feel welcome and included, or you've done something to support equity, diversity and inclusion in Scouts, we'd love to hear from you.

Scouts for SDGs

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) acknowledge that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand in hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur the development of thriving communities and economies - all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

At Scouts, we recognise that EDI principles are embedded throughout all 17 of the SDGs and are taking steps to identify how we as an organisation can do our part to leave the world a little better than you found it.
