Training for all volunteers on our new ways of volunteering and digital tools
We’re running a series of live online training sessions on how to use our new digital tools and our new ways of volunteering.
There are three types of session available, tailored to the volunteering tasks you complete. Each is 1.5 hours long. If useful, you can stay on the call for an optional 30-minute Q&A session which’ll take place at the end with experts on hand.
If you want to attend a live session, please sign up for the day that works for you. Alternatively, a video has been provided covering the same content, which you can view at your own leisure. More bite sized training videos will be added to this page by 23 November 2024.

Overview: Everyone should do this training. It covers how our new digital tools will support the following activities:
- Managing my profile
- Viewing and updating personal details
- Managing qualifications
- Using My Learning
- Completing learning actions
- Managing notifications
- Submitting a Nights Away Notification
- Applying for Permits
- Submitting a grant application.

Managing your teams and volunteers training
(This was originally a section of the Part 2 training)
Overview: This training is relevant to Lead Volunteers, Team Leaders, Chairs and volunteers supporting the management of teams or with accreditations that support the management of teams. You need to have attended training for all members before attending this session.
It covers how our new digital tools will support the following activities:
- Creating and managing your team structures
- Adding roles and accreditations
- The volunteer joining journey
- Your teams’ learning
- Managing suspensions
- Viewing and creating dashboards and reports.

Assessing and Approving training
(This was originally a section of the Part 2 training)
Overview: This training is relevant to Lead Volunteers, Team Leaders, Chairs and volunteers who hold an assessor, approver or recruiter accreditation. You need to have attended training for all members before attending this session.
It covers how our new digital tools will support the following activities:
- Approving Nights Away Notifications
- Approving Good Service awards
- Assessing and approving permits
- Supporting grants
- Assessing learning
- Managing minibus permits
- Using the Volunteering Opportunities tool.
