Criminal Record Checks

Criminal Record Checks

When we talk about a criminal record check, we’re including each Nation’s versions of these types of checks, such as Disclosures (in England and Wales), PVG Checks (in Scotland), Access NI (in Northern Ireland) and other variations (across BSO and in the Branches).

From 24 October

  • No criminal record checks should be submitted.

During Compass Freeze (from 7 November)

  • Criminal record checks cannot be submitted.
  • Any volunteer without a current valid criminal record check recorded on Compass (as Disclosure Issued) before Compass goes offline, must be treated as a helper without a disclosure during this period. They must be supervised with young people at all times and will not be allowed to attend overnight activities unless otherwise advised by the UKHQ Safeguarding Team.
  • Any criminal record checks which are still in progress will continue to be processed and will be available, once a result has been received, in the new system.
  • The UKHQ Safeguarding Team will manually contact any volunteers who need to submit their certificate to HQ.

From Go-Live (From 21 November for Early Adopters and from 28 November for everyone else)

  • Criminal record checks which were in progress before Compass went offline will appear on the new system, once a result has been received.
  • Criminal record checks can be submitted through the new system.
