Tasks for the recommending Lead Volunteer

Recommend a suspension

Start by signing in to scouts.org.uk. 

On the top right (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right): 

1. Click 'Search member'.  

2. In the search box, type the member’s name, membership number, unit, email, team, role or accreditation. 

3. Select the corresponding 'Filter by' option from the dropdown menu. 

4. Click 'Search'. 

5. From the list, click the member’s name to open their profile.  

On the left-hand side menu, under the member’s name (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right, then click the member’s name): 

6. Click 'Suspend member'. 

7. Under 'Initiate suspension request', select a reason for suspension from the dropdown menu. 

8. In the 'Requestor comments' box, type your comments. 

9. Tick the box to confirm the information you provided is correct. 

10. Click 'Submit'. 

The next Lead Volunteer will receive an automatic notification requesting them to approve or reject the suspension.


Submit a suspensions outcome recommendation

Start by signing in to scouts.org.uk.

On the left-hand side menu (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right): 

1. Click ‘Safe Scouting’. 

2. Click ‘Suspension actions’. 

On the ‘Suspensions’ page: 

3. Click the member’s name on the list. 

On the ‘Review suspension request’ page, under ‘Add investigation details’: 

4. Type your comments into the ‘Case background’ box. 

5. Type your comments into the ‘Details of investigation’ box. 

6. Type your recommendation into the ‘Recommended outcome’ box. 

7. Click ‘Browse’ to upload supporting documents. 

8. Select a document from your device and click ‘Open’. 

9. Click ‘Submit’.


Tasks for the approving Lead Volunteer

Approve or reject a suspension

Start by signing in to scouts.org.uk.

On the left-hand side menu (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right):

1. Click ‘Safe Scouting’. 

2. Click ‘Suspension actions’. 

On the ‘Suspensions’ page: 

3. Click the member’s name on the list. 

On the ‘Review suspension request’ page: 

4. Type your comments into the ‘Approver comments’ text box. 

5. Tick the acknowledgement box. 

6. Click ‘Approve suspension’ or ‘Decline suspension’.  

A message will appear at the bottom of the page confirming you've successfully approved or rejected the suspension.


Approve a suspension outcome

Start by signing in to scouts.org.uk.

On the left-hand side menu (if you’re using a phone, click the menu button on the top right):

  1. Click ‘Safe scouting’. 

  1. Click ‘Suspension actions’. 

On the ‘Suspensions’ page: 

  1. Click the member’s name on the list. 

On the ‘Review suspension request’ page, under ‘Suspension outcome’: 

  1. Under ‘Decision’, select ‘Reinstate’, ‘End Membership’ or ‘End Member Role’ from the dropdown menu. 

  1. Type your comments into the ‘Reason for decision’ box. 

  1. Click ‘Submit’.  

A message will appear at the bottom of the page confirming you've successfully saved the suspension outcome.
