Delivery methods

Delivery methods

Our first aid learning consists of two modules: 10A - the learning, and 10B - the practical validation.

There are three approved delivery options available, and in all of them participants are required to attend a face-to-face practical validation session.

Face-to-face

Face-to-face First Response learning is often delivered at local Scout meeting places. It contains both learning (10A) and practical (10B) modules and can be delivered in one single six-hour session or three separate two-hour sessions.

This can be delivered by 1 trainer to a maximum of 12 learners.

Blended Model

The Blended Model combines a 2.5 hour eLearning with a three-hour online session for the learning (10A). The practical validation (10B) is a short (15-20min) face to face session which covers the practical elements of the life support training.

The eLearning must be completed first. The online session is a live video call facilitated by a First Response trainer, with some more detailed knowledge checking exercises and discussions (in some areas this may be offered as a face-to-face session or alongside the practical validation).

Volunteers can only attend the practical validation (10B) once the learning (10A) is completed.

This learning can be delivered with a ratio of 1 trainer to a maximum of 12 learners for face-to-face elements and 1 trainer to 20 learners for online elements.

Online

In this delivery method, the learning (10A) is done in three separate two-hour online sessions, and the practical validation (10B) in a short (15-20min) face-to-face session, which covers the practical elements of the life support training.

The online sessions are live video calls facilitated by a First Response trainer who will provide the learning (10A), combined with knowledge checking exercises and discussions.

Volunteers can only attend the practical validation (10B) once the learning (10A) is completed.

This training can be delivered with a ratio of 1 trainer to a maximum of 20 learners.
