World Scout Jamboree - Poland 2027

Held in Gdańsk during the summer of 2027

The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is an international gathering of Scouts and Guides from all around the world. The World Scout Jamboree is an opportunity for young people and adult volunteers to make international friendships with people from different cultures, and take part in a safe, inclusive and sustainable programme of activities

About the Jamboree

The first Jamboree was held at Olympia, London in 1920. Since then, the Jamboree has taken place roughly every four years, bringing 14-17 year olds together from all around the World. Providing an opportunity for young people to share their cultures, learn about the world around them and participate in a variety of activities.

The event takes place every four years, and a different country hosts the event and its participants. In the Summer of 2023, over 4,500 Scouts and Guides from across the UK made their way to Korea for the 25th World Scout Jamboree.

The UK Contingent

The UK Contingent (UKC) is made up of Participants, Unit Leaders, International Service Team (IST) and the Contingent Management Team. Together, the UKC represents the UK at the World Scout Jamboree.

Preparing for a Jamboree is no small task. At The Scouts, we provide support through the Contingent Management Team, a team of volunteers and staff that plan and organise the UK's attendance at the Jamboree; providing information to participants, Unit Leaders and IST along the way.

The next World Scout Jamboree is being hosted by the Poland Scout Association and will take place during the summer of 2027.

To be a participant at a World Scout Jamboree you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a member of The Scouts or Girl Guiding
  • Be aged 14 to 17 during the Jamboree
  • Apply and attend a selection event
  • If selected, attend and engage with preparation weekends.

For adults, volunteering is a core part of the Jamboree. Alongside our participants, the UK Contingent are proud to support adult volunteers joining the Jamboree as International Service Team or as Unit Leaders.

Details for joining the Jamboree are announced closer to the time.

The cost for the Jamboree changes with every event, partly depending on how far away from the UK the event is. In preparation for the event, the UK Contingent will prepare expected costs before recruitment of participants for the next Jamboree will begin.

International Service Team or IST are the adult volunteers that attend the Jamboree to support the delivery of the programme of activities. IST are part of the UK Contingent just like participants where you'll prepare for your journey to the Jamboree alongside other IST members.

Whilst on site, IST work directly with the organisers of the Jamboree and with other IST from across the world to help deliver a safe and exciting experience for participants.
