Pride Month (June)
June is a month to celebrate and support the LGBT+ community. As Scouts, we want to make sure everyone feels safe and included. Take a look at how you can join in a Pride event.
Activities to try:
- Make colourful rainbows to celebrate how we're all unique
- Make a rainbow disc spinner
- Choose someone who inspires and create a Spoon Puppet Superhero.
Child Safety Week (3 - 10 June)
Child Safety Week is an annual campaign run by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) to raise awareness of the risks of child accidents and how they can be prevented.
Activities to try:
- Try our activities about railway safety
- Learn about the dangers of carbon monoxide with some new camp recipes and other activities
World Bicycle Day (3 June)
Get on your bikes and ride on World Bicycle Day. Celebrate the benefits of this fun and eco-friendly mode of transport.
Activities to try:
- Plan a bike ride with a twist in Incident bike
- Make sure you're Ready to ride
- Learn good cycling habits with Cycling through the seasons
World Environment Day (5 June)
World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment.
Activities to try:
- Get your community growing in From grey to green
- Take part in conservation work with Helping our hillsides
- Explore biodiversity with some string in Web of life
Sausage Roll Day (5 June)
Celebrate this national institution in style!
Activities to try:
- Cook some sausage, pepper and potato packets
- Make campfire sausage rolls
National Fish and Chip Day (6 June)
Celebrate this iconic British dish.
Activities to try:
- Play our Gone fishin' group game
- Have a quick relay race with Flapping fish
- Plan a fishing taster session
- Find the best chippy in your area with a Chippy hike
World Food Safety Day (7 June)
Learn about the risks of foodborne illness and how to keep yourself healthy.
Activities to try:
- Learn about kitchen hazards with Kitchen risk bingo
- Learn about bacteria with Home kitchen hygiene
- Act out a scenario, then make it safe with Not what it scenes
The Big Help Out (7 - 9 June)
Inspire the volunteers of tomorrow and support your community, in The Big Help Out 2024. You can mark the event with a new badge from Scout Store, too.
Activities to try:
- Organise a community event. You could run a craft event to promote good mental health, or plan a litter pick.
- Inspire and support future leaders through the Young Leaders' Scheme.
- Develop leadership skills with Leader lottery.
World Oceans Day (8 June)
World Oceans Day celebrates collaborative conservation to protect our blue planet.
Activities to try:
- Learn about plastic pollution with this quick game Plastic or prey?
- Explore the seaside with a Coastal alphabet hunt
- Ride some waves and go Surfing
- Explore the effect litter can have on wildlife in Banding together
The Great Big Green Week (8 - 16 June)
The Great Big Green Week is a celebration of action against climate change.
Activities to try:
Fundays: The Games (8 - 9 June)
Olympics-themed Fundays at Scout Adventures Gilwell Park. A day of activities for Squirrels, Beavers and Cubs, based on sport, international and friendship.

Magic Day (12 June)
Learn some Magic (or play some Magic: The Gathering) on this fun day.
Activities to try:
- Learn some mini magic tricks.
- Learn how to play Magic: The Gathering.
- Collect Magic mana in this outdoor team game
- Capture other bases in this Magic group game
Hajj (approx 14 - 19 June)
Learn about Hajj, a sacred pilgrimage that Muslims make to the holy city of Mecca (Makkah).
Activities to try:
- Try our teamwork game Carrying the stone
- Explore the five pillars of Islam
The Kings Official Birthday (15 June TBC)
Let's all celebrate The Kings (official) Birthday while it's not raining!
Activities to try:
- Try this fun game about ruling over others.
- Create a palace fit for some bugs
- Make a leaf crown
- Make some perfect postage stamps.
Drowning Prevention Week (15 - 22 June)
Raise awareness of water safety ahead of a summer outdoors.
Activities to try:
- Learn about safe swimming with Think or sink
- Learn how to stay safe in cold water in Break the ice
- Be prepared with Person overboard
Eid al-Adha (16 - 19 June)
Eid al-Adha (the festival of sacrifice) is one of two Eids celebrated by Muslims. It's a special time for prayer, sharing food and giving to others. It also marks the end of Hajj.
Activities to try:
Father’s Day (16 June)
Show our loved ones how much we care on this special day.
Activities to try:
- Develop your skills in electronics and create a light up card with LED's celebrate
- Celebrate different families with Diversity in nature.
World Refugee Day (20 June)
Build empathy and understanding of people who've been forced to flee their home country, often to escape conflict or persecution.
Activities to try:
- Make welcoming signs
- Build your own Safe spaces
- Learn more about communities affected by conflict and Share an international activity
- Try Refugee suitcase
Summer solstice (20 June)
Summer solstice is the longest day of the year. It's when one of the Earth's poles is tilted closest to the sun.
Activities to try:
- Discover the power of the sun with a DIY solar shower
- Make a pinhole projector with Let the sun shine in
- Make your own pan flute and Play a tune for the Inca Sun God
International Day of Yoga (21 June)
This day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practising yoga. You could host a yoga session in your meeting place.
Activities to try:
- Start your day right with Wake up to yoga
- Discover perfect posture with Building balance
- Try meditation with Breathe like Buddha
World Rainforest Day (22 June)
World Rainforest Day is about raising awareness of the importance of the rainforest and what it does for us and all wildlife that lives there.
Activities to try:
- Explore the impact of habitat loss in Habitat hunt
- Work as a team with Rainforest rescue
UK Unplugging Day (23 June)
Take a break from the digital world and connect with others in real life, on UK Unplugging Day.
Activities to try:
Armed Forces Day (29 June)
A chance to show your support for the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
Activities to try:
- Try some wartime weaving.
- Learn about different aeroplanes
- Test your vehicle knowledge with Quizzical vehicles
- Learn about vehicles with an Army mechanic
Tour de France (29 June - 12 July)
Get on your bike and learn about the world's biggest bike race.
Activities to try:
- Try some games to practice balancing in Bike balance gymnastics
- Take part in Le tour des scouts.
- Try to stay upright as you cycle slalom.
- See the bigger picture with some GPS art.
