National Stress Awareness Month (April)

Activities to try:

April Fool’s Day (1 April)
Try not to get fooled on this day of practical jokes.
Activities to try:
- Find facts, not fake news in Bogus bulletins

- Delve in to some mystery and play what's in the box.
World Autism Acceptance Week (31st March-6th April). World Autism Acceptance Awareness Day (Every 2nd April)

Read a Road Map Day (5 April)
Challenge your map reading skills.
Activities to try:
- Learn the symbols on a map by playing map symbol bingo.
- Learn to reap a map in finding your way.
- Use your grid reference knowledge in Human battleships
- Map-read with speed as you search for symbols and landmarks with grid references as you play six figure bingo.
- Learn the points of the compass in this exciting game naughty elephants spray water.
World Health Day (7 April)
This celebration is hosted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to help tackle health challenges, both now and in the future. Learn more about promoting a healthy lifestyle with your young people.
Activities to try:
- Think about your emotions in we don't talk about Bruno we do talk about you
- Go on a mindfulness walk
- Chart your daily activities using the healthy balance clock
- Make Groovy Smoothies
- Cook a delicious healthy campfire meal of sausage, pepper and potato packets.
International Beaver Day (7 April)
Get outside and den build, just like a Beaver. Why not take a moment to celebrate our Beaver Scouts too?
Activities to try:
- Use natural materials while Den building
- Learn how to look after the natural environment in nurture nature.
- Learn new words from this traditional Scottish story about beavers in The beaver that wouldn't swim.
- Have a go at pitching a tent from this funny story, Tent Tales.
National Unicorn Day ( 9 April)
Celebrate this mythical animal, the Scottish national animal. Which symbolizes purity, strength, and freedom.
- Practise some mythical creature movements with moorland myths
- Learn a traditional Scottish dance with ceilidh dancing.
- Bake some delicious Scottish shortbread
- Host your own highland games

National Pet Day (11 April)
Give your pet some extra love in this day that is all about celebrating our animal pals!
Activities to try:
- Make a small pet foraging box.
- Test your pet care knowledge with pet care licence
- Play pet care scavenger hunt
- Keep record of how well you can care for an animal with animal diary
- Be a best pal to a pet with animal friends
Vaisakhi (14 April)
Get involved with the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi (also known as Baisakhi) which celebrates the founding of the Sikh community. Find out more about Vaisakhi in our blog.
Activities to try:
- Make a lion mask or plate
- Plan a visit to a gurdwara with Sacred sites
- Make a place of worship collage.

World Art Day (15 April)
Cultivate you artistic tendencies on World Art Day.
Activities to try:
- Create a self-portrait using four different techniques, inspired by Frida Kahlo

World Circus Day (20 April)
World Circus Day celebrates circus creators, performers and artists.
Activities to try:
- Learn circus skills with Night at the big top

- Test your core and coordination in Happy hooping
Passover (22 - 30 April)
During Passover, Jews remember a time when their ancestors escaped from slavery, and celebrate freedom. Families get together for a special meal called the Seder.
Activities to try:
- Make matzah or matzo, a type of flat bread eaten during Passover
- Plan a visit to a synagogue with Sacred sites
- Explore how someone puts their faith into practice with Faith feathers
Earth Day (22 April)
Show your support for environmental protection by doing something good for the planet. There's a new badge available to buy from Scout Store, too.

St George’s Day (23 April)
Celebrate Scout's patron saint by bringing people together and promoting Scouts in your community. Learn more about celebrating St George's Day here. You can mark the occasion with a blanket badge from Scout Store, too.

Stop Food Waste Day (24 April)
Take action to fight against food waste.

Morse Code Day (27 April)
This day commemorates the birthday of the co-inventor of Morse Code, Samuel Morse. Challenge yourself and learn a new skill.

World Bath Bomb Day (27 April)
