First Response Accreditation

Support for First Response accredited trainers supporting members with crediting external first aid training within Scouts.

Crediting First Response

First Response learning can be credited by:

  • A First Response trainer who has credited modules 29 plus a 16-hour First Aid course and credited First Response in Scouts.

It cannot be validated by:

  • A Volunteer Development Team member
  • A Lead Volunteer

Crediting the skill on My Learning

Once credited by a First Response Trainer, a member record can be updated by:

  • Learning Assessor

What does First Response Practical (module 10b) include?

If you are crediting a learner who has completed either the 3 online sessions or the blended learning, the Practical Assessment, as defined in the trainers’ notes, is: know and demonstrate your skill in performing:

  • Approach to and assessment of a scene/incident
  • CPR for an adult
  • CPR for a child

If you are crediting a learner who has completed an external course, the Practical Assessment only includes knowing and demonstrating your skill in performing:

  • CPR for a child

External first aid courses

Learners can attend first aid courses provided by an external provider as an alternative to a First Response Certificate, as long as the course is set by a regulated body, and covers the Scouts First Response criteria, recognition and length requirements.
