Local Awards and Recognition Team members
The following could be considered as members of a Local Awards and Recognition Team:
- at least one young person under 25 years
- A member of the Trustee Board
- Section Team Leaders
- An external supporter who may have knowledge of other national awards such as a Deputy Lieutenant.
The number of members required on a Local Awards and Recognition Team will be for the Lead Volunteer to determine, but the following guidance may be useful.
- Some members of the team should have varied and wide-ranging significant current or recent experience of Scouts, including knowledge of additional needs in young people and volunteers; and should be a member or willing to become such.
- Remember to maintain a healthy balance of members that best reflects local area.
- The Lead Volunteer may wish to appoint a team leader to coordinate the members as well as planning a schedule of meeting for the team to discuss award and recognition related topics.
Members of the Local Awards and Recognition Team are made members of this sub team by the Lead Volunteer.
Team members timeline
To provide continuity it is recommended that members of a Local Awards and Recognition Team are initially made part of the team for at least two years, with others being members for three years. Once this two/three year period is up, the Lead Volunteer made choose to continue the the individuals tem membership for up to a further three years (six years being the maximum).
