Community impact

Scouts can reflect on the importance of community, compassion for others and helping others when we can. Helping your community and showing kindness to others is a key part of Islam.

Many Muslim adults donate some of their money to charity or those in need. This is called Zakat or Zakah, which is the third pillar of Islam.

Muslims also try to do Sadaqah, which means giving their money or time to good causes wherever possible.

A volunteer places a yellow, red, blue and white necker around the neck of a young person.

Whatever you spend with a good heart, give it to parents, relatives, orphans, the helpless, and travellers in need. Whatever good you do, Allah is aware of it.

Qur'an 2:215

He’s not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbour to his side goes hungry.

Prophet Muhammad (as reported by Ibn Abbas)

Three volunteers stand in a line, while the volunteer in the centre holds a football above their head.
