Furthering Reach and Community Impact
Find out how you can further reach by engaging in social action
Engaging through Community Impact
Undertaking Community Impact gives your section the opportunity to further reach.
The actions your young people take will foster greater communication between community groups, as well as broadening the group's understanding of what's happening in their community and how to make positive change.
It's a chance to shape the world, by doing positive things for the community and the environment.
Three key areas of furthering reach
Learning and developing understanding of a community or people
- Community Impact activities help with learning and developing understanding of communities. Working together for a common goal or purpose unites people. By taking practical action on topics that affect us, we can boost mental wellbeing and happiness, as well as enriching our experience and understanding of the people around us.
Building community relationships
- Building relationships from diverse backgrounds helps young people develop deeper understanding and respect for each other. Community Impact empowers young people to make positive changes, building trust and gaining appreciation from the rich cultures they bring. These relationships help develop positive friendships and connections.
Engaging and recruiting those who would benefit from Scouts
- Scouts is about investing in the future. Community Impact helps more young people engage in activities that improve knowledge and skills. It provides opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to come together and lead the way. Making a real difference and opening doors for all to join the Skills for Life adventure!
Undertaking Community Impact can empower young people to make a difference from the start.
The A Million Hands project is a great place to start thinking about social action.
