Pride in London 2024
Details of how to join Scouts at Pride in London on 29th June
** Applications for Parade places with The Scouts are now closed - Family Area volunteer applications remain open - please see below **
We’re really pleased to announce that Scouts will be attending Pride in London again this year, both in the parade and as part of the team delivering the family and youth area.
Find out here how you can be part of this amazing event - a truly memorable, exciting, and spectacular day out, promoting diversity and inclusivity in Scouting to well over 1 million people attending Pride in London.
This year, the event is taking place on 29th June. Attendance in the parade with Scouts is open to Explorers (14-17) and to any 18+ members, with sign up options for individuals and Explorer Units. We have been allocated a limited number of parade tickets, and as competition for these is always high. Please note: Parade place applications have now closed and we have run a ballot to allocate places for the 2024 parade.
If you are interested in volunteering to support in the family and youth area, please take a read of the information below and submit the expression of interest form by 31st May 2024.
Supporting the community – volunteering in the Pride in London family and youth area
Partnering with Pride in London, Scouts will again this year be helping to run the family and youth area, where we deliver some of the Scouts skills for life programme in a fun, interactive space for younger members of the community, and engage with families and young people, helping to support and grow local scouting.
On the day, we are looking to our 18+ members to support this, where we need help with setting up the area, running the activities, helping and engaging with visitors on the day, as well as clearing the space at the end of the day too.
Please note: Applying to volunteer in the family and youth area does not affect your chances of getting selected in the ballot for the Parade if you are also applying for that.
To apply, please complete this form.
Once we have confirmed your role as a volunteer, we will also require:
- Further personal information, including emergency contact details.
- Completed media/photography consent.
- Details of t-shirt size.
You will also be required to register with Pride in London as a volunteer and complete their online learning for event staff. Details of this will be shared nearer the time, and you should not register with PiL separately if volunteering with the Scouts.
Applications for volunteering in the family and youth area will remain open until 31st May 2024.
Attending Pride in London with Scouts
The parade is open to all members who are 14 and over and you can attend either as an individual (adult or young person) or as part of your Explorer Unit.
To volunteer for the family and youth area you will need to be an (18+) adult volunteer.
Timings for the day will be sent out nearer the event, but you should ensure you are available for the whole day. For parade participants there will be a pre-parade gathering in the morning, and then the parade itself (which can be any time in the afternoon, depending on our place in the parade). Similarly, if volunteering for the family and youth area there will be the morning meeting and set-up, then the event running in the afternoon.
All 18+ members of Scouts can apply to attend the parade as a participant.
**Applications closed for this year**
Once a confirmed place is offered to you, we will also require:
- Further personal information, including emergency contact details.
- Completed media/photography consent.
- Details of t-shirt size.
Confirmation emails will be sent out on or before 1st May 2024.
Explorer scout members (aged 14+) can apply to attend as a parade participant, however, before submitting an individual application, please make sure your Explorer Unit is not also submitting an application to attend.
**Applications closed for this year**
Once a confirmed place is offered to you, we will also require:
- Further personal information, including parental information and emergency contact details.
- A completed parental consent form. Please note: the team will arrange an online meeting or phone call with at least one parent to discuss the details for the day and confirm consent.
- Completed media/photography consent.
- Details of t-shirt size.
Confirmation emails will be sent out on or before 1st May 2024.
For Explorer units wanting to attend, units are required to submit one application. All units registering must commit to 2 adults (18+ members) attending with the unit on the day, as responsible adults for the young people they bring with them.
At this initial stage we require details of the 2 adults and the number of young people you would like to bring.
Please note: Because of the limit on the number of parade tickets we have allocated, to ensure fairness for those wishing to attend as a group, we are offering each Explorer unit booking a maximum total of 10 people per group (including the minimum 2 adults).
**Applications closed for this year**
Once a confirmed place is offered to your unit, we will also require:
- Personal information, including emergency contact details, of all those attending from your unit.
- Collection of parental consent for each young person attending, to be held by the leadership team attending on the day.
- Completed media/photography consent for all those attending.
- Details of t-shirt size.
Confirmation emails will be sent out on or before 1st May 2024.
