Review your group’s inclusivity

The Inclusivity RAG (Red, Amber, Green) Assessment is a fantastic tool to help you to make Scouts in your area more inclusive.

It’ll help you to start powerful conversations around equity, diversity and inclusion.

The RAG Assessment will help you to work out what a Section, Group or wider local area, such as a District or County, is doing well.

It’ll also highlight where there are any opportunities to improve.

Accessible Spaces Checklist

The Accessible Spaces Checklist is a tool designed to help everyone involved in Scouts make all Scout-led activities, events and spaces more accessible.

Try using this tool to review your local meeting place, to guide you when planning your next trip out, or when planning your next camp.

Individual support plans

When a young person or volunteer with additional needs joins Scouts or signs up to attend an event, we ask that you complete an individual support plan with them. This document outlines their needs and how they can be supported at Scouts.

For young people, work in partnership with their parents and carers to complete the support plan. Additional guidance on having these conversations can be found in our conversation starters and question tips.

Check out our planning individual support page to help you complete support plans for young people and volunteers.

Visit our planning individual support page to assist you in completing support plans for both young people and volunteers.

Using visual supports

Visual supports can be helpful for supporting young people and adults. They are particularly useful for neurodivergent people, such as those on the autism spectrum, those with ADHD, dyslexia, hearing impairments or communication needs.
