Supporting our adult volunteers
Find out how you can help support your adult volunteer team
Updated Wednesday 12 October 2022
The cost of living crisis will impact on our adult volunteers too.
Some may find they need to work more hours and so need flexibility in their volunteering time, or may need to be reminded of the costs that should be covered locally that they may sometimes incur due to their Scouts activities.
Talk to your volunteer teams about:
- Reminding them to claim expenses for costs they incur in delivering Scouts – no volunteer should be out of pocket for doing their role (for example car parking, buying materials to run programme activities, printing)
- If they need to change any of their volunteering times to accommodate extra or changing work patterns
- If any of your volunteers are worried about rising costs, this guidance from Citizens Advice outlines where potential support may be available for individuals
