Our operations at Hawkhirst Scout Adventures Centre
After four decades, Scouts will be ceasing activity operations at their Scout Adventures Centre known as Hawkhirst.
Set in rural Northumberland, Hawkhirst has offered unparalleled water sports as well as a range of other adventurous activities for visitors. We are incredibly proud of what the site has offered young people over the years.
However, since the pandemic, we have been carefully reviewing the extensive level of investment the site facilities need, as well as the uptake of bookings at Hawkhirst and the income generated. In the current economic climate, this has led to us taking the tough decision to end operations on 31 March 2025.
With support from Northumberland County, Scouts will continue to have adventures and develop skills for life via volunteer-led campsites in the local area. There is also access to our nearby nationally owned centre at Scout Adventures Great Tower, in the Lake District, and via our Scottish partner centre at Scout Adventures Fordell Firs, near Edinburgh.
We are extremely grateful to the many international volunteer cohorts, service crews, and staff teams that have been dedicated to delivering amazing adventures and skills for life to the many thousands of young people that have visited over the years.
