UK Youth Forum
Speak up, spark change
The UK Youth Forum is all about putting young people in the driver’s seat! We need to listen to and act on the ideas of our young people.
We want to bring together young people from across the UK to hear their voices, exchange ideas, and explore solutions that will shape the future of the movement. The UK Youth Forum plays a key part in ensuring young people have a voice at all levels of Scouts.
We’ll be delivering the UK Youth Forum in two different ways so as many young people as possible can get involved:
- In-person events: Four events bringing together over 500 young people for a day of engaging workshops, asking for their thoughts on our next strategy and big national projects.
- Local self-led activities: For those unable to attend in person, we’ve created self-led activities for local volunteers to deliver, so we can hear the voices of as many young people as possible!
Who can take part?
All young people from across the UK.
For the in-person events, we’re asking each English County, Welsh Area, Scottish Region and NI District to send six delegates. A delegation is made up of:
- 2 Scouts (aged 10.5 - 14)
- 2 Explorers (aged 14 - 18)
- 2 adult volunteers (at least 1 must be aged 18 - 25)
The 2 adult volunteers will be responsible for their delegations, and must have completed the Growing Roots learning and First Response. We’d recommend a Youth Lead takes one of the spots.
Local activities
We’re producing some simple activities for local volunteers to deliver in January and February 2025. We’ll share an online form for you to feed ideas into the UK Youth Forum, so you can make your voices heard.
Self-led activities will be launched in January 2025, so be sure to keep some time free in your weekly programme!
Volunteering at an in-person event
If you’re an adult volunteer, we’ll be recruiting local delivery teams for each in-person event in January 2025. We’ll be looking for volunteers who can engage with and support young people to speak up and spark change!
We've created a guide for County/Area/Region/District Lead Volunteers to help with selecting their delegation.
You can also ask your Youth Lead or Programme Team to support with selection.
If you have any questions or want further support, please get in touch with the team on UKYF@scouts.org.uk.
