Race equity is critical to Scouts’ future as a truly inclusive movement, and we’re looking for 50 volunteers from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds who can help shape and deliver this work.
What you’ll be getting up to
As part of the Race Equity Co-Creation Group, you’ll be contacted with opportunities like:
- Feedback and consultation – taking part in user testing, focus groups, workshops or surveys.
- Delivery – working as part of a team with an agreed aim. Identifying needs, designing and creating new approaches or resources, testing things out and providing feedback.
- Leadership – acting as a volunteer lead or expert on a particular theme or strand of work.
- Representation – representing the race equity project on other boards or projects across Scouts.
- Acting as a critical friend – helping make sure the work is meaningful and impactful.
- Being an advocate for race equity – being a visible champion for the work and providing active support to volunteers and staff.
How it will work
- We’ll email you with opportunities as and when they crop up.
- You can choose whether it’s something you want to get involved with – just let us know either way.
- Time is flexible – it can be as little or as much as you want to give, depending on what you get involved with.
- Most of your input will be done remotely, using tools like Zoom or Teams (but don’t worry if you’re not confident using these, we’ll help).
- We’ll support you to develop new skills and gain experience, as needed for the tasks or teams that you get involved with.
- We’ll get everyone together for an online call occasionally, to share what we’ve all been up to and celebrate success.
How you can get involved
- Use this form to tell us a little about yourself – the group is already set up, but we'd still love to hear from you if you want to be involved.
- Don’t worry if you’re not selected – there'll be plenty of other opportunities to support this work.
