As Executive Director of Operations, Matt is responsible for Safety and Safeguarding, Member Support, Growth and Communities, and Youth programme. He works closely with volunteers and staff across the UK to ensure safe and effective delivery.
Matt joined Scouts in July 2023 after working as the UK Director of Crisis Response and Community Resilience at the Red Cross, and prior to this as UK Director for Event First Aid and Ambulance Support. During his time at the Red Cross Matt led some of the largest operational responses in recent times responding to issues such as Covid, the Afghanistan evacuation and the conflict in Ukraine. Matt was awarded a BEM in the 2021 Honours list for his work during Covid.
Matt has over 25 years experience working for some of the largest charities across the UK, including Barnardo’s and Catch 22, combining senior operational and commercial business development roles.
