Jamboree trucks head for Sweden
19/07/2011
Trucks full of equipment and teams of volunteers are beginning to make their way to Sweden in preparation for the arrival of 4,000 Scouts and adult volunteers at the World Scout Jamboree.
Two lorries with 89 boxes of UK Unit equipment spent all week travelling to the Jamboree site and arrived safely during the weekend. An extra lorry spent the weekend transporting all the contingent kit and tents.
Everything but the kitchen sink?
Heather Baker of the Contingent Support Team said, ‘We have taken everything from boxes of matches, hand gel and rope to a fridge, 18 crazy golf holes and a huge inflatable building.’
It's only a matter of days until UK Scouts fly to Denmark for three days of sightseeing and activities in Copenhagen before travelling on to the Jamboree site in the South of Sweden.
Keep up-to-date
The 22nd World Jamboree runs between 27 July and 7 August 2011, and there will be lots of coverage on the homepage of scouts.org.uk. Check back regularly to keep up with everything that's going on over in Rinkaby.

Cant thank the UK Contingent team and the Scout association enough for the help, support they have given us. The logistical challenge of organising this amazing experience must have been tough.

By Nigel Crisp on 29/07/2011 01:21 Does not time fly? It does not seam long since the 2007 Jamboree in Essex and all the fun we had with the weather that year as well as the 100 year events we had. I still have found memories of that year, apart from all the water that was flowing around. I attended a local Jamboree that kidderminster (Hereford and Worcester) District ran. I assisted on the Service team for the camp as well as doing some of the events that had been organized during the camp. This as well as assisting with my own District (Malvern, Hereford and Worcester) I also remember well a camp that was held on our own site that was rather wet that it almost resembled a mud bath, the children loved it. What a year it was!
