News | Cubs100 wins Third Sector Communications Campaign of the Year
Cubs100 triumphed at the Third Sector Awards, winning Communications Campaign of the Year.
Being awarded Communications Campaign of the Year at the Third Sector Awards is an amazing recognition not just for the staff and volunteers who who worked on our centenary year nationally, but for the 150,000 Cubs and all the volunteers who worked so hard to make it such a success locally.
The Scout Association was also a finalist for Charity of the Year along with Bear Grylls for Celebrity Charity Champion.
As well as high profile events featuring HRH the Duchess of Cambridge and Cubs100 Ambassador Steve Backshall, the Cubs100 campaign secured over 1,000 pieces of media coverage throughout the year and 824,000 pieces of social media engagement in total (using #Cubs100). Our Cubs100 videos also received hundreds of thousands of views. We received messages of support from celebrities including Sir David Attenborough (a former Cub), Richard Branson, Ed Stafford and Anita Rani.
Royal Mail supported the event by franking every letter three days either side of 16th December with the Cubs100 logo and our campaign message of ‘fun, adventure and skills for life,’ which reached millions across the festive period.
A huge well done to everyone involved – both the year and the award are such a big boost for Scouting; improving perceptions and attracting more adult volunteers.
