Activity | Five-minute fillers week 14
Now that the evenings are shorter (and colder!) here’s a quick, fun game that your Scouts can play indoors. It’s also useful for getting them familiar with the points on a compass.
How to play
Place markers around the room to represent eight compass points (north, north east, and so on).
Decide which marker will be north, and put the letter ‘N’ on it, while leaving the others blank.
Once you’re all set up, choose one person to be the wind — everyone else will be a boat.
The wind calls out a compass point where they’re blowing from, and all the boats have to go in the opposite direction.
Make it more difficult
When your Scouts are getting faster at figuring out where to go you can add even more compass points, like north-northeast.
