Pride Festivals 2015 Across the UK
Pride is a time for the community to come together and celebrate diversity and equality. Throughout the summer Scouts will be attending festivals up and down the UK to do just this, promote that Scouting is inclusive.
Our National Scout Active Support Unit, FLAGS coordinate attendance at a number of Pride events.
Date: Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May
Birmingham Pride hosts one of the biggest Pride parties in the country. Scouts will be attending the parade on the Saturday kicking off with a breakfast meeting for all Scout volunteers taking part. There’s still time to get involved, find out how by visiting the FLAGS event page.
Date: Saturday 20 June
Pride in Scotland will be celebrating 20 years this year and Scouts will be there celebrating with the city on this momentous day. Scout volunteers are working hard to make sure that Scouts presence this year in the parade will make a lasting impact. Date: Saturday 20 June
Portsmouth Pride will be hosting a parade on the 20 June starting from Victoria Park followed by a sold out variety show taking place on the Southsea Common. Scouts will be in attendance during the parade, find out how you can get involved by visiting Portsmouth Pride.
Pride in London
Date: Saturday 27 June
The Scout Association is proud to be at Pride in London again this year; the capital’s biggest one day event and one of the worlds biggest LGBT celebrations. We plan on making our presence on the parade even more noticeable. Before putting on our costumes and heading down the parade, we will be having a morning gathering to kick us off. In the past the Community Area at Pride has hosted incredible charities including Stonewall, Amnesty Bristol and Bristol Hate Crime Services. Scouts are going to be attending the parade for the second year in a row to support Bristol Pride and the local LGBT Scout community. Pride Brighton and Hove
Date: Saturday 1 August
Brighton is home to one of the largest Pride festivals in the country and this year, for the first time ever, Scouts will be taking part in the parade and celebrating in Preston Park afterwards. This will be a fantastic day to celebrate the LGBT community we have in Scouts. Visit the FLAGS Brighton Pride event page to find out how you can take part in the parade.
Pride Cymru (Cardiff Pride)
Date: Saturday 15 August
This will be Scouts first year supporting Pride Cymru and there is a lot of excitement building. There’s lots of opportunity to get involved and help represent Scouts during the parade. Find out what else FLAGS has planned by visiting the Pride Cymru.
Date: Saturday 29 August
The Big Weekend will host some of the UK’s top pop stars including Stooshe, DJ Fresh, Union J and Atomic Kitten. This will be the first time attending Manchester Pride, all details of how you can get involved in the parade this year will be shared on the FLAGS Manchester Pride page.
