Fundays at Gilwell

Nearly 6,000 Beavers, Cubs and Brownies and 2,000 volunteers descended on Gilwell Park for an exhilarating weekend at Fundays.

A huge variety of activities was on offer, guaranteeing an action-packed event for everyone. Highlights included go-karting, archery, crate stacking, rafting, abseiling, crazy golf, mini quads and water rockets. There was also face-painting, fairground rides and bouncy castles to keep them entertained.

Beavers from 7th Orpington had the chance to go climbing for the first time. Alfie, 6, gave it a fantastic verdict: 'It was very cool and I only get to do things like this in Beavers.' Megan, 7, from Stone Dartford Group tried prusiking, climbing a tree using a rope: 'It was hard work but the view from the top was really good.'

Fundays proved a hit with leaders too. Timandra Burford, Beaver Leader at 7th Orpington, said: 'Coming to Gilwell is so much fun and the Beavers get opportunities here that they don’t get anywhere else. We really look forward to the event each year.'
