Celebrate LGBT History Month

This month is LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) History Month and Scouting invites you to join in the celebrations.

The annual event celebrates the lives and achievements of LGBT people and recognises the difference they have made to our communities.

With events happening across the country, why not get involved and help promote Scouting as an inclusive organisation? By taking part in a film screening, attending a book reading or running an activity with your section, you can help The Scout Association move towards its vision of being open to all.

Open to all

The Scout Association is committed to being open to all members of the community, regardless of sexual orientation. FLAGS Scout Active Support Unit is just one of the ways that we support this. FLAGS not only support LGBT members, but also offer support and guidance to all adults and young people who may deal with issues around someone’s sexual orientation.

If you’d like to find out more or join, visit their website or email the Diversity Team at Gilwell Park.

Meanwhile, get thinking about how you can join with Scouts across the county to celebrate LGBT History Month. Search ‘equality’ on Programmes Online for inspiration.
