Fundays at Gilwell
Thousands flocked to Gilwell Park over the weekend for the annual Fundays.
The action-packed Fundays is the biggest event of the year for Scouting's younger members. Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts are joined by Rainbows and Brownies at Scouting HQ and enjoy two days of activities, from grass sledging to go-karting.
Over 7,000 young people and leaders attended this year’s event over the weekend (23-24 June). The weekend included a fantastic range of activities including aerial runways, a helter-skelter and a fun fair.
Though Sunday saw some rain, the bad weather didn't deter the young people from enjoying Gilwell's exciting and safe 108 acres on the edge of Epping Forest. A total of 5,090 young people and 1,750 leaders attended the weekend, as well as 280 volunteer staff.
The young people had the chance to work towards earning new badges with some of Scouting's partners over the weekend. Pets at Home gave the young people the opportunity to hold snakes, while Dolmio helped them plant basil, cress, and lettuce with the help from celebrity gardener, Charlie Dimmock.
Attendees also made mug trees with B&Q, conducted science experiments with Rolls-Royce and learnt to put out fires with Chubb Fire and Security.
