National Awards Advisory Group Member

We're currently looking for a new member to join the National Awards Advisory Group (NAAG), initially for a three year appointment. In the role, you'll review and make decisions on award nominations that are decided at a national level.

The purpose of the NAAG is to;

  • Proactively support the Scouts Award schemes, National Honours and other external award schemes.
  • To provide advice, support and guidance to local Scouting for Awards and Recognition of Service.
  • To consider applications for specific awards and make recommendations to the Chief Scout for those awards.
  • To monitor rules and procedures concerning Awards and Recognition of Service and make appropriate recommendations through the Operations Committee.

Key dates

The closing date for applications is 8am on Monday 14 October 2019. Interviews will take place via Skype during the first two weeks of November 2019.

The NAAG have a meeting scheduled for 11 January 2020 (from 10am until 4pm) in central London which the successful candidate would be expected to attend (if available). Other conference call and meeting dates will also be shared with the successful candidate once appointed.

The Process

A search group will support the Chair of the NAAG, Graham Haddock, Graham and the search group are keen to receive applications for the role from a wide range of individuals, but particularly those holding a sectional appointment (e.g. CSL, ASL). When completing the application form please provide as much relevant information as possible as this will assist the search group in considering who may be best suited for the role.

Please refer to the role description and person specification to help the search group understand how you meet the requirements of the role. It may be helpful to include experiences outside of Scouting that are relevant to the role such as in professional or other volunteer capacities.
