Independent member of the Safeguarding Committee

The role of the Independent member is to provide the Safeguarding Committee and the  movement with knowledge and experience to making key decisions. The role is pro bono but reasonable expense will be paid in accordance with Scouts' Expenses Policy. 

Main responsibilities

  • To assist The Safeguarding Committee in implementing, monitioring and amending safeguarding aspects of Scouting
  • To ensure Scouts' safeguarding policies, procedures and practice remains fit for purpose and sector leading in proctecting young people
  • To participate in the monitoring and reviewing of risks allocated to the Safeguarding committee and reporting to the Risk committee accordingly
  • To contribute to creating, mainting and monitoring plans to implement the Board’s vision and Strategy for scouting
