UK Chief Commissioner
As UK Chief Commissioner, Tim Kidd heads up Team UK – a group of Commissioners who provide leadership and management across UK Scouting, along with specialised support in areas like programme, adult support and safety.
Tim first joined the Scouts as a Cub. Over the years, he has held many voluntary roles, including Scout Leader, Assistant County Commissioner (Scouts), District Commissioner and County Commissioner.
Tim has worked mainly with the Scouts section, and still helps locally at events for Scouts and Beavers in his home County of Oxfordshire. He was the UK Commissioner for Adult Support for four years.
Tim is passionate about supporting and enabling volunteers. His primary aim is to lead the national team to ensure that Scouting across the UK meets our strategic vision – Skills for Life – Our plan to deliver better futures. By 2023 we will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme. We will be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities. The details can be found here.
In his professional life, Tim leads a team that provides internet and many other services to the academic and research community in the UK. He works for a not-for-profit company which is part of the Jisc Group - a charity that champions the use of digital technology in UK education and research.
