5-minute filler | 15 February
Play this quick game to encourage your young people to problem solve and think quickly.
Put four pieces of paper around the room to mark the eight points of a compass.
Decide which way is north and write 'N' on the paper. Don’t label the others.
Ask for a volunteer to be the 'wind'- the rest of the young people are 'yachts'.
The wind now calls out a direction and the yachts have to sail in the opposite direction. For example, the wind calls out ‘north east!’ and the yachts sail south west.
The last yachts to make it to the correct point on the compass, or anyone who sails in the wrong direction, is out. The winner is the last yacht left sailing.
