5-minute fillers | 19 October
Try this funny team game to start your Scouts night with plenty of energy.
How to play:
You'll need two ping-pong balls and a pack of drinking straws. Divide the young people into two teams and give each person a straw. Mark out the start and end points of a course - you can make it as big or small as you like, depending on how much time you have.
The teams must line up behind the start point. The first person sets their ping-pong ball on the floor, and when you give the signal, they must get on all-fours and blow their ball along to the end of the course and back to the next person in their team. It's a race to see who can get their ping-pong ball back to the start after every person has had a go. This game requires lots of puff, so watch out for any young people who have asthma.
Make it harder:
Try creating a mini-obstacle course for the ping-pong ball: you could use cones as a slalom, a frisbee as a roundabout, or create a maze from other straws. You could even ask each team to design a course for the other, and see how difficult they can make it using only certain objects they are given or can find in the Scout Hut.
