Extract from chapter 13 on page 61
'He looked ahead. They were at the top of a rocky ledge twenty metres above the river. The good news was, there was no immediate sign of any other vertical rock walls blocking their way. The bad news was, up here the jungle came all the way to the edge. They were back in the same kind of dense undergrowth they had trekked through when the helicopter landed. The air between the trees was damp and laced with the smell of leaves, fresh and rotting. If they had been able to keep to the river shore, they could have made their way from rock to rock with no difficulty- but without food, their energy would have soon failed them. Now, back among the trees, a whole new set of rules applied and the going would be a lot harder- but with that came opportunity.'
