Beaver Scout to sell a million cupcakes
A Beaver Scout from north London has launched an innovative online campaign in memory of his grandfather, who recently died from motor neurone disease. So far, Oliver, 7, and his sister Ella, 10, have raised more than £5,000 for The Motor Neurone Disease Association by selling virtual cupcakes.
'We came up with the idea of a Million Cupcakes for Grandpa after our grandpa Michael, whose initials were MCG,' said Oliver, who attends 6th Friern Barnet Scout Group.
'But then we realised how hard it would be to bake a million cupcakes. We worked out we would need more than 10 tonnes of flour and more than 20 tonnes of icing sugar,' explained Ella.
Realising that this was an impossible feat, Oliver and Ella decided to sell e-cupcakes. Sending an e-cupcake is easy. Just choose which cupcake you want to send, enter your recipient’s details and decide how much you would like to donate.
