Scouting’s cookbook wins Best British Book.
The Essential Camping Cookbook, by Nick Allen and published by Simon and Schuster Ltd earlier this year, beat out the competition and scooped Best British Book at the British Book Design and Production Awards 2012 on Tuesday.
The full-colour hardback edition contains over 180 pages of inspirational ideas and includes celebrity contributions from Levi Roots, Stephen Fry and James May among others.
Over 400 books were entered this year for the various awards, which are designed to represent everything that is best in British book design and are seen as the flagship annual event in the industry.
The judges at the awards show commented on The Essential Camping Cookbook, saying, ‘While camping may be quintessentially British, this book was a far cry from soggy beans under wet tarpaulin. Creative use of typography throughout, brilliant design and great images, this is one camping trip we would be happy to take.'
