Adventure is at the heart of everything we do. It is the single most important thing that sets Scouts apart.
Through the everyday adventure of Scouting, young people and adult volunteers regularly experience new challenges that enrich their lives.
Scouting helps our young improve their key skills, including social skills, teamwork ability, leadership ability and confidence. Our volunteers also enjoy the benefits of Scouting by learning new skills, making new friends and enjoying a social life with a purpose. There are hundreds of different volunteer roles on offer, from management positions, running activities to behind the scenes roles like driving the minibus or painting and decorating.
Our varied and exciting programme offers hundreds of activities, from camping and hiking to surfing and paragliding. Young people can also achieve their badges in such diverse subjects as PR, electronics and entertainment.
Scouting is a unique adventure that’s full of surprises. Join in and see for yourself.
Scouting gives young people opportunities to do adventurous and non-mainstream activities. It allows them to meet and interact with other young people from different backgrounds, both nationally and internationally, united by a common bond and Promise.
I think Scouting offers young people invaluable opportunities in life.
I have a lot to thank the Scouts for, as I used to be very shy (although no-one would believe it now). It gives young people the confidence to try new things and meet new people from all walks of life. All these things help them to become well-rounded individuals who apply the true meaning of Scouting to everything they undertake in life.
Nowadays, children are so bubble-wrapped. I think to really learn about the world you've got to get a little bit muddy and Scouting offers this.
It gives young people the chance to do things they don't do elsewhere. It's a whole different experience. They have school and home but Scouting is different from that. They do things in Scouting that they wouldn't get the chance to do if they weren't a Scout.
It's about experiencing something new. Every child out there has something in them that can be brought out through Scouting.
Scouting offers young people adventure that's hard to find anywhere else. We challenge and inspire our kids to become the best people they can possible be.
These are just a few of the reasons why I'm so proud to be UK Chief Scout. Kids find a sense of community and camaraderie at Scouts, building friendships with others all over the world. We offer adventure to people from all walks of life and of all ages. Life is about adventure, and that's something we know all about.
