Make Your Passion Happen

Posted on: 23/07/2010

The Scout Association’s new Entrepreneur Challenge demonstrates belief in the importance of encouraging young entrepreneurs. Now the National Enterprise Academy (NEA) is teaming up with Grant Thornton to give young people the chance to turn their passion into innovation.

Make Your Passion Happen is a competition for 16-18 year olds who have ideas about turning their passion for music, sport, fashion, technology or whatever else into a business concept.

Entrants will need to describe their passion and how it translates into a business idea. Young people can enter either as individuals or in groups of up to three. The competition will run in three regions – Oxford & the South East, Manchester & the North West and Sheffield and Yorkshire – and regional finalists will have the chance to refine their ideas with professional input from the NEA, Grant Thornton and our partners. Regional winners will then be invited to have breakfast with NEA founder Peter Jones, CBE.

Opportunity

Make Your Passion Happen provides an excellent opportunity for Scout leaders to introduce entrepreneurship to their Groups. The NEA has developed activities and resources which can be downloaded from our website where you will also find full details of the competition.

Groups located around the NEA’s Buckinghamshire and Manchester campuses can also request a visit from NEA staff to talk to them about routes into an entrepreneurial career and, where appropriate, run a short activity.

More information

The NEA also runs pioneering full time courses for students who want to take their interest further and gain a qualification in enterprise and entrepreneurship. Full details can be found on the NEA’s website or leaders can email Sabina Crouch, Recruitment Officer.
