UK Technical Advisers

The UK Adventure Team is recruiting active volunteers to take on the role of UK Technical Adviser (UKTA) for a number of different activities (as shown below).

The development of Scouting for young people through challenging and safe activities is an identified way of growing our Movement. We are inviting you to be part of this team and to make a difference.

The main function of this role is being able to advise, mainly on technical issues as they arise, and to keep a watch on factors external to Scouting that will affect the activity within Scouting.

Those holding the role will therefore need to be able to respond effectively to queries within a pre-agreed timeframe and be contactable by email. After an initial induction it is not envisaged there will be a need to attend any evening or weekend meetings to carry out this core work.

As part of your role as a UK Technical Adviser you will be encouraged to increase access to your activity through a development plan agreed with the UK Adventure Team. This role will aim to support the growth and promotion of the activity within scouting. You may also as a UKTA be invited to support projects that are focussed on development. This may require some evening or weekend work due to meetings, workshops, meetings with external bodies, or similar.

The role of a UK Technical Adviser requires an in depth technical knowledge and, where appropriate, experience of the particular activity. To ensure competence many of the roles require a certain level of activity qualification. The minimum qualifications (or equivalent) required for each role are listed below.
