Board Members - The Scout Association Trust Corporation

An opportunity has arisen to offer a voluntary contribution to the work of the SATC which wishes to appoint a further one or two Company Directors/Charity Trustees (Custodian) for its Board. Members for its Board must be or become Members of the Council of The Scout Association. If necessary, co-option to the Council can be arranged.

The SATC

The SATC is a charitable company limited by guarantee authorised to hold title as Custodian Trustee of land and buildings on behalf of Scout Units (i.e. Scout Groups, Districts or Counties) registered with The Scout Association. Although the SATC does not have any responsibility for managing the Scout Units and/or their land, it serves an important administrative and charitable trusteeship function for Scout Units by ensuring consistency and an oversight to good governance.

This role requires a time commitment for one Board meeting per year (usually held in June/July at Gilwell Park, London E4 7QW) as well as considering and approving a list of Custodian Trusteeship requests from Scout Units via email once a month and sometimes more frequently.

Candidates

Candidates with skills or experience in land, property, finance or charity law are particularly welcome. Experience of scouting is desirable but not essential.
