Summary of Job

As Senior HR Advisor you’ll be integral to driving through change at the Association on an operational level. Focussing on projects and practices ensuring that these work in line with our values and reflect best practice in current HR thinking. Aligning working practices with our values of; Respect, Belief, Care, Cooperation and Integrity, and assisting with developing the culture at The Scout Association. You will be an important role model for the operational HR team.

The post holder line manages the HR Advisor, in conjunction with this post holder is expected to act as a mentor to the HR team, and role model excellent HR practice as well as demonstrating behaviours that are in line with our values.

About You

You will be expected to act as a project lead on a range of HR initiatives, dealing with complex people and change issues without day to day direction, you will be confident and pragmatic in approach, striving for the best result for all concerned. Coupled with your knowledge of employment law, your collaborative approach will support knowledge sharing, and best practice for the HR team members to learn from, you will be visible and engaged with the team.

You will ensure that you role model exemplary behaviour, being open and transparent, and being firm but fair in supporting managers to deal with people issues and behaviours that do not fit with the values of the Scout Association.

You will be enthusiastic, committed and willing to learn, ensuring that the day to day operational aspects of project work are completed so that the Head of People can focus on the demands of her role.

The Association has developed a vision and strategy to take Scouting forward to 2018 and beyond. The Scout Association Regional Services Team will be an important element in achieving the vision by supporting the opening of new scouting provisions and enabling volunteers to support and make these provisions sustainable.
