Summary of Job
We have an opportunity for a Senior Growth and Development Officer to join the Midlands team for a home based position covering the East and West Midlands Regions including the counties of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Coventry, Birmingham, Solihull, Staffordshire, Shropshire, West Mercia and Warwickshire. This permanent position offers a salary of £30,679 per annum including access to a company vehicle and fantastic benefits. This exciting opportunity includes the management, support and implementation of short term funded projects, including the support of Growth and Development Officers to deliver their identified objectives and targets. You will work in partnership with Regional, County and District Commissioners, Project Steering Groups and funders to realise agreed sustainable growth targets. In addition it is expected that this role will carry a smaller portfolio of work relating to growth, development and support for key line managers.
This role is a supervisory/management role as well as a role which makes a direct contribution to the work of the Association’s agreed Growth Strategy and involves frequent evening and weekend work.
You will be an innovative thinker with a determination to make things happen. You will possess a high level of communication skills to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including; potential adult volunteers, existing volunteers, community representatives, external bodies and funders. You will be a great motivator who is able to support staff to grow and develop to meet their full potential and you may have experience of managing staff.
You will be conversant with a suite of IT products and will be organised and have attention to detail to enable comprehensive project plans and outcomes to be compiled. You will have a willingness and potential to learn and develop personally and be able to work as part of a team but also be motivated and driven to work independently of direct supervision. You must have a full driving licence and be willing and able to work frequent evenings and some weekends.
Young people are our future and the Scout Association plays a vital role in developing them for adult life. The Association has developed a vision and strategy to take Scouting forward to 2018 and beyond. The Scout Association Regional Services Team will be an important element in achieving the vision by supporting the opening of new scouting provisions and enabling volunteers to support and make these provisions sustainable.
