Summary of Job
We have an exciting opportunity for a Growth and Development Officer to join the Regional Services Team in the South, for a home based position covering the county of Berkshire and Hampshire. The role is a 12 Month funded fixed term contract position offering a salary of £25,741 per annum with business mileage reimbursed plus fantastic benefits. You will support the delivery of the county’s growth and development plans; delivering focussed growth projects in areas of significant deprivation working closely with volunteers in Berkshire and Hampshire as agreed by the Senior Growth and Development Officer and Area Growth and Development Manager.
You will be a creative and innovative thinker with a determination to make things happen. Possess a high level of communication skills to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including; young people, potential adult volunteers, existing volunteers, community representatives, external bodies and funders. Previous experience of working collaboratively in communities and hard to reach areas of significant deprivation would
be desirable. You will have a willingness and potential to learn and develop from the experience and be able to work as part of a team but also be motivated and driven to work independently of direct supervision. You must live within easy travelling distance of the advertised area, and have a full driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use. Be a self-starter and be willing and able to work frequent evenings and some weekends. You will be passionate and understand the potential of positive activities to have a transformative effect on people’s lives and share the values and fundamentals of the Scout Association in developing young people and volunteers.
Young people are our future and the Scout Association plays a vital role in developing them for adult life. The Association has developed a vision and strategy to take Scouting forward to 2018 and beyond. The Scout Association Regional Services Team will be an important element in achieving the vision by supporting the opening of new scouting provisions and enabling volunteers to support and make these provisions sustainable.
