Summary of Job
To help make our strategy come to life, the Scout Association is seeking a highly competent and enthusiastic Company and Charity Secretary. The Secretary will ensure that the organisation has robust and effective governance in place, to comply with statutory requirements and good practice in relation to company and charity law, and charity governance. As part of the Support Services Directorate, the Governance team is committed to providing the organisation with business partners, and the successful candidate will have a proven track record of embedding governance best practice.
The successful candidate will have excellent experience advising and supporting Boards and other staff in relation to corporate governance matters, and good working knowledge of Data Protection (sufficient to fulfil the role of Data Protection Officer).The post holder will be able to provide technical advice to members of the Movement and staff concerning governing documents, Policy Organisation and Rules (POR) interpretation and application, whilst also supporting effective governance at headquarters and local levels.
